It is with great sadness that we hear of the untimely passing of Malcolm Carlisle.
Malcolm has been a visionary for the industry and, having served on the Board for more than 15 years, was a major force behind the development of Eucomed.
Malcolm's career spanned marketing, legal and regulatory affairs and it was in the latter areas where his prominence developed whilst heading the legal function at Kendal and Smith's Medical before going on to become Chief Executive of Eschmann.
His boundless energy, deep intellect and enormous sense of humour resulted in his making an impact in almost any area that he chose to touch. The clarity of his vision helped the industry during the creation of the Medical Devices Directives and he played a leading role in both the Regulatory and Legal Affairs Groups at Eucomed as well as serving the Board with distinction.
Since retiring from Eschmann, Malcolm directed much of his energy into the European Justice Forum where he was Chief Executive and continued to supply wisdom and leadership as chair of the ABHI Regulatory Affairs Group.
He will be sadly missed by the medical technology community and his many friends both within and around our industry.
