Last night I attended BVMed’s well attended debate looking at the German medical technology sector in times of the economic crisis. The debate was hosted by the permanent representation of the German Federal State of North Rhine Westfalia. Member of the European Parliament, Dr Peter Liese, was one of the speakers.
He welcomed BVMed’s initiative to reach out to the large Brussels-based German community. Adding to this he pointed out that more engagement by Eucomed’s national associations can only be helpful because it provides the opportunity to contribute to the legislative process early on and will ultimately yield better results. Maybe we should invite him to talk to our national association members? The relevance of counterfeiting for medical devices came up several times during the discussion. Will have to see how prevalent it is for our sector. Stay tuned for more.
