The Eucomed goal
For our stakeholders
The need for new medical innovation will continue to grow as diseases become more prevalent and the aging population increases in key parts of Europe. Eucomed wants to increase collaboration amongst stakeholders because we believe medical technology solutions have the power to improve and transform patients' lives.
For our members
Eucomed's goal is to be instrumental in alleviating or overcoming potential problems for our members, and to provide the European Medical Technology Industry with opportunities to operate, innovate and market more freely in an open and competitive market-place.
Services to our members
Eucomed is active in the following areas:
- economic affairs, including market data collection, health economics, funding and reimbursement, health technology assessment (HTA) and new trends (homecare)
- regulatory affairs: vertical legislation (including medical devices directives and advanced products regulation) and horizontal legislation (environmental) and standards
- science and innovation: medical nanotechnology and other emerging technologies, research and innovation projects
- international affairs: global regulatory harmonization (GHTF), relations with the US, Japan, China and India
- ethics: enforcement of the Eucomed Code of Business Practice
- public affairs, including relations with the European institutions and the Member States
- communications and external relations, including partnerships with patient groups and medical associations, events, publications and media relations
Eucomed Tenets
- We care about patients and healthcare professionals - in hospitals and nursing homes, in doctors’ practices and in home care
- We promote the access of patients to modern, innovative and reliable medical technology
- We aim for an inclusive organisation and a listening attitude, working with clinicians, patients, government bodies and public policy makers.
- We speak in the interest of our members, representing their interests worldwide with a particular focus on Europe, and promoting an ethical behaviour in the market place (as expressed for example in the Eucomed Code of Business Practice)
- We promote an environment which will encourage investment in Europe in the medical technology industry for the benefit of patients, customers, employees and member companies.
