Brussels, 6 March 2006 - Eucomed, the European Medical Technology Industry Association, has today published a new Medical Devices Vademecum. This pocket-size flyer explains the key differences between medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
The objective is to help policy-makers and other stakeholders in healthcare understand the specificity of the medical devices sector in terms of product type and mode of action, innovation, maintenance, user education and training, for example; and why it is necessary to maintain a different EU regulatory approach for medical devices. The Medical Devices Directives are currently under review and this publication can help all those involved in this process at EU and national level.
